Moving locally can be pretty easy, if you live in an apartment or small house. But we were moving to a larger house just outside of Seattle and needed some extra help by way of Local Seattle Movers. They were able to help us ten-fold! We had so much stuff we had to move, we didn’t even think we could scare up enough friends to help us!

You see, we adopted 5 kids from an orphanage in Haiti, and our house has been a busy one ever since. It’s been a joy to be a parent to the orphans we adopted, but we find ourselves needing more and more space as they continue to grow up. We have moved twice in five years!

That’s why it’s so amazing to have found the perfect Seattle moving company. Puget Sound Moving made it really helpful to get all of our things organized without asking for help. We already rely on the community so much, that we really didn’t want to have to ask for help. Puget Sound did a great job with our move and it was so quick and easy!

I’ve lived in Seattle long enough to know that hiring a local mover in Seattle like Puget Sound Moving is a necessary evil when it comes to moving in the city. This way, all I really have to do is direct them to my new apartment and they do all of the heavy lifting.

I hadn’t used Puget Sound Moving before, but I had done a fair amount of research on local movers in Seattle. I cross-referenced Yelp and other review websites and found that Puget Sound was the best price for the best service. They hadn’t been around long as a company, but they had the experience and the reputation.

I made a great choice in hiring them and I knew that immediately when they showed up to perform my move. They were on time and completely professional. It was great to know that I was going to be taken care of and that my move would go smoothly. And it did! Everything that needed to be moved ended up being where it needed to. If I move again in Seattle, I will most certainly make sure to hire Puget Sound Movers.

I had hoped it would at least be a few months before we had to use the card we received from Specialized Pest Control, a pest control Company in Sacramento, but i twas regrettably only five days. We moved into a new apartment complex in Sacramento a few weeks ago and noticed a small noise coming from the wall. Our cat Lexi went berserk and ran to the noise only to come back to us with a mouse in her teeth.

We were ready for one pet (our cat Lexi), but two pets (Lexi plus the new mouse) was just too much for us to handle in our new home. Luckily, we had received a card from Specialized Pest Control and so we called them right away. They came just the next morning to seal off the areas that a mouse could have potentially gotten in. They also sealed off places where a mouse could also potentially get in in the future.

We were not excited about the rodent problem we had almost immediately upon moving into our house, but we were grateful to have caught it sooner than later. While they were there, they also looked for signs of other pests and rodents, which really gave us some peace of mind. Now we are happy to be in our new place because it is bigger and better than our old place. And it is, as of now, completely pest free!

I needed help to find the best area of town for my business. I own one shop in the East Bay and am expanding to Sacramento. I am not as familiar with the area, so I turned to CBRE, a Sacramento retail properties company, to help me determine where would be the best place for my business and to help me find the best spot.

They found a bunch of options for me to choose from. I never would have imagined looking at some of the spaces they showed me, but they helped me look outside the box and see all kinds of potential. They are brilliant and knew what areas and spaces would be best for my particular business. We were all on board and ended up choosing a corner spot.

Business has been amazing in Sacramento so far, and I know so much of that has to do with the location of the business. CBRE was a game changer. They helped me in so many ways and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them!

My boyfriend asked me to move in with him a few months ago and it was finally time to make it happen. I got the lease shortened on my current apartment and was ready to move out. When it came time to find a moving company I turned to Yelp and saw Golden Bay Movers in San Francisco.

They have 5 stars with over 160 reviews, which was amazing. I had never seen anything like that before. I called them and saw what they could do for me.

They were able to schedule the move for the same day I needed it. They quoted me on the phone based on the items I had and how large my current apartment was. They had no problem moving any of my stuff. I really didn’t have that much, but couldn’t have imagined doing it on my own. Especially after seeing how great of a job they did! Big or small, you should definitely go with Golden Bay Movers for your move. Hands down.

Moving is a lazy person’s worst nightmare because it involves planning and coordinating on top of the hard work that comes with the move itself. We have come up with some tips to help you get everything done with the minimal effort. A successful move doesn’t have to take a lot of time and energy if you are smart about it!

Plan Ahead

One way to get a grip on the work involved with moving is to do small tasks as you go. You can make packing much more manageable if you don’t wait until the last minute to complete all of it. Instead, do a little each day, and it won’t feel like much at all!

Hire a Mover

Many people we talked to about moving said that once they hired a mover, they would never attempt to move without one again. Hiring a mover can be more expensive than doing it yourself, but moving day will be pretty easy if all you need to do is unlock the doors for the movers and point to where things should go.

Use What You Have

Shopping for moving supplies can be arduous and expensive. If you can, use items that you already have. For example, you can use some luggage instead of boxes, and blankets and towels can double as packing materials If you are smart about it, you can cut down costs and the time it takes to go and buy them.

Moving can be really expensive. Between hiring a moving company, purchasing supplies and possibly taking time off from work can take a toll on your checkbook. Here are some ways you can cut spending during the moving process:

Get Free Boxes

Many electronic stores and grocery stores will give away free boxes if you ask them in advance. Stores like Fry’s and Wal-Mart have the most to choose from, but you can also check Craigslist for gently used boxes. You should also ask friends who have recently moved because they will more than likely be happy to get rid of their old boxes.

Use What You Have

You don’t need to spend money on packing peanuts and Styrofoam if you have blankets and towels at home. You can wrap large electronics (like a television) in a blanket, or use towels to cushion a china set. As an added bonus, by using these items as packing materials, you also don’t have to make space for them!

Have a Moving Sale

A moving sale is great for both making money on unwanted items, but also making sure you won’t waste energy carrying something you didn’t want anyway. Think about the new space you are moving into and see if you won’t have need for anything you were planning on bringing.

I honestly don’t know what I would have done without having a professional moving company help me with my move. I had friends help me pack, but I was more or less reluctant to force them to help me with the heavy lifting. Mostly, because the last time I moved, it was a disaster.

First of all, since we are now in our thirties, most of us have some kind of back-related injury at this point in our lives. We no longer simply “bounce back” from labor-intensive work. Instead, we have learned how to endlessly complain about how a small round of ping-pong managed to make us unable to walk for three days.

When I was trying to round up my buddies to help me move, it was hard enough simply to coordinate a date and time to do so. After I finally found a date that enough people were going to be able to make, it was hard getting them to actually help out. And when I did, one of my friends hurt their back. All I’m saying is that I learned the hard way that if you want a quick and easy move, HIRE A PROFESSIONAL.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends. They are all amazing in ways that are completely unrelated to their ability to be helpful during a move. But this time I moved, I knew that the best thing for all of us would be for me to get some professional help.

Before you think my friends are mean, may I remind you that they also through me a GREAT housewarming party! Throwing a party is something they absolutely excel at!

Buying a new home is scary, exciting, stressful and can also be expensive if you fail to secure it properly. Many homeowners, especially new homeowners don’t think to take steps to properly secure their home, many times because they don’t know what that entails. Here are a few tips to make sure your belongings and family are safe and sound.

Security System

The best way to keep your home secure is by installing a security system, preferably one that will also alert the authorities in case of emergency.  The wireless security systems are the best because they allow you to secure your home without having to drill holes into your house.

Automatic Lights

Burglars are less likely to attempt to break into your home if it is well lit. It is best to get is motion sensor lighting because that could potentially discourage a burglar from entering your home. Motion sensor lights act as a sort of sub-alarm system.

Change Your Locks

Especially if your home isn’t newly built, you should always change the locks when you move into a new home. You never know who has a spare key, so it’s best to rule out the possibility that anyone you don’t know has a set.

Doors/Windows

Secure your home with steel or solid wood doors and make sure the hinges are on the inside so that no one can break off the hinges and enter your home.  For windows, make sure they have secure locks in place and that they are actually in use.

Even with all of these security measures in place, you still have to be diligent about using them properly. Always make sure to lock up and secure the alarm before leaving the house.

Moving Safety TipsMoving can be an arduous and stressful process even without the threat of injury. Because many people who are moving simply want to make their move simple and fast, many overlook common safety concerns and issues. Here are some things to consider while making you next move because, as they say, safety first!

Keep it stress-free

Stress can weaken your immune system, so make sure to take time to relax and distress, whether that’s going to a movie, eating a nice meal or just taking a break, Just remember that taking some time to relax will be worth it if it means you won’t be sick during your move.

Don’t over pack boxes

It can be tempting to pack boxes as full as you can because it means less back and forth from the moving truck to the home. For heavier objects like books and kitchen appliances, pack them in small boxes so they are easier to lift.

Use the right equipment

When moving boxes and furniture, make sure to use dollies and moving pads to ensure that no one injures themselves during the move. Also be sure to employ proper lifting techniques, using your legs to support your lifting instead of the strength in your back.

Hire a moving company

The easiest way to prevent injury is to hire someone else to do the heavy lifting for you. A moving company will have the experience and equipment to make your move safe, fast and injury-free.
